Question: [last updated] 2/6/2003 11:44:00 AM
After logging in with my user ID and Password, a security warning pops up; asking me if I want to 'install and run FaxFromTheWeb Upload'. Should I click YES? Should I also check the box labeled, 'Always trust content from ABS Fax Technologies, Inc.'?
Fax Gray Line
Answer:
'FaxFromTheWeb Upload' is the application that allows you to easily upload your image and list files to Faxfromtheweb. 1. You should click 'Yes', so you will be able to access the 'file dialog box' when uploading your files. 2. Check the box labeled, 'Always trust content from ABS', before clicking 'Yes' and this security prompt will not appear each time you log in.

Question: [last updated] 2/12/2003 2:39:00 PM
When I try to upload my image file ('ADD IMAGE' step), an error
occurs that reads, 'File Type Not Known'.
Fax Gray Line
Answer:
Faxfromtheweb will accept the following image file types:
Word or Word Perfect 'DOC' files, Adobe PDF, ABS (ABS printer
files), EPS, RTF, PCL or Postscript (PRN/PS), TIF, PCX, JPG, or
BMP images.

Also, if your image is in a format not accepted by Faxfromtheweb,
or there is a problem with the converted image, the ABS Print
Driver can be used to convert almost any printable document into an
'ABS' file.  To download and use the Faxfromtheweb
Print Driver, see FAQ #**

Question: [last updated] 2/17/2003 10:25:00 AM
I am trying to upload a file and there is a message that reads,
'Please Wait...', but it seems to be taking too long or is stuck
in a loop.
Fax Gray Line
Answer:
This may be happening because there was an temporary interruption
in your Internet connection during the upload process.  Also, there
may be some security in place (i.e., network firewall), interfering
with the data transfer.

To correct the problem, start by closing the Faxfromtheweb window
and all other internet browser windows before attempting to log in
again.

If you think the problem is security related, Faxfromtheweb allows
you to change the 'Upload Type' to 'Simple Upload'.  This setting
may address the security problem, but does not provide upload
progress information.

To change the Upload Type to Simple Upload, follow these steps:
1. After logging in to Faxfromtheweb, click on the 'User Options'
   button on the first screen.
2. Select 'Set Upload Type', then click Continue
3. Select 'Simple Upload', then click Continue
4. You will need to close Faxfromtheweb and log in again before the
   change will take effect

If you continue to have problems, please call ABS

Question: [last updated] 2/17/2003 10:28:00 AM
My image is a file type other than MS Word and Adobe PDF.  How can
I convert it?

I have received my proof fax, but some of the ‘white-space’ in my
image has turned to gray (or rows of dots).  What can I do to make
my fax look better?

The graphic(s) on my proof fax are ‘grainy’ or too dark.  What can
I do to the graphics on my image to increase the clarity?
Fax Gray Line
Answer:
If your image file is getting a 'File Type Not Known' error or is
not converting well (i.e., dots in background, too dark, etc),
Faxfromtheweb has a 'Print Driver' that can be used to convert any
printable image or document.

To download and use the Faxfromtheweb Print Driver, go to the
Faxfromtheweb log in page (http://www.faxfromtheweb.com) and follow
these steps:

Downloading and Installing the Faxfromtheweb Print Driver

1. You will need to log in before clicking on the 'Support' link
2. Once you have logged in, minimize the Faxfromtheweb interface
and return to the log in page
3. Click on the 'Support' link at the top of the page.  This will
take you to the 'Faxfromtheweb User Support' section
4. Click on the link labeled, 'Support Software and Drivers
   download page'
5. In the lower section, 'Print Drivers', choose either of the
first two downloads (Print Drivers) based on the 'Platform'
   your computer is using
6. The install 'wizard' may ask you if you want to 'Run' or 'Open',
rather than 'Save' the file.  Choose 'Run' or 'Open in current
location' (if this doesn't work, start over and choose "Save')
7. A window will open called, 'Faxfromtheweb Print Driver
Installer' - Click 'Install' (We recommend not changing the
defaults for the install and images directories.)

After downloading and installing the Faxfromtheweb Print Driver,
you should now be able to use it to convert your images

Using the Faxfromtheweb Print Driver to convert images / documents

1. Once the Print Driver is installed, open the file to be
converted.  (Note:  The file should be opened in the program it
was created in - i.e., 'PPT' files - open in MS Power Point)
2. From the 'File' menu, choose 'Print', to bring up the Print
window (the Print window varies from program to program)
3. In the 'Printer' section (usually at the top), click the down
arrow to show the other printer choices
4. Choose the Faxfromtheweb Print Driver (if this is not listed as
one of your available choices, you may need to restart your
computer or call ABS for assistance)
5. Once the Faxfromtheweb Print Driver is selected, click 'Print'
   or 'OK' to proceed.
6. A small window will appear, called 'Print Driver Control Dialog'
displaying the 'Output File Name' of the converted file.
7. By default, the 'Output File Name' will be c:\FAXES\MyFax.ABS
(Location: C Drive, Folder: FAXES, File Name: MyFax.ABS)
8. We recommend changing the 'MyFax' part of the name to something
specific to your image or broadcast.  The file name should end
   with '.ABS'
9. This new ABS file of your image can now be uploaded to
Faxfromtheweb using the 'Add Image' button

Question: [last updated] 2/17/2003 1:26:00 PM
I want to remove certain records from my list(s) and make sure they
are never faxed to in future broadcasts.  How do I create and use a
'Do Not Call' list?
Fax Gray Line
Answer:
Faxfromtheweb has a 'Do Not Call' list function that is specific to
your account and free to use.  Once you have created your Do Not
Call list, any fax numbers in the list will be suppressed from any
future broadcasts.

You can either upload a list you have already created or create
the list within Faxfromtheweb.  (We recommend including only the
fax numbers in this list)

The following steps describe how to create and manage your Do Not
Call list:

1. Whether you are in the process of setting up a broadcast or just
using the 'Upload List' button, the Do Not Call list is set up
just like a normal fax list (i.e., the 'Select Field' step)
2. However, when you are prompted to select a name for your list,
enter the letters, 'DONOTCALL', without any spaces
3. By naming the list, 'DONOTCALL', Faxfromtheweb will know to
suppress these fax numbers from any list(s) you choose for a
   broadcast
4. This DONOTCALL list will not be one of your 'Available Lists',
but will automatically be applied to all of your broadcasts.
5. You will be able to edit the existing records or add new records
by replacing or appending your list

Question: [last updated] 2/19/2003 10:33:00 AM
I have contact names (and company names) in my fax list.  How can I
get Faxfromtheweb to insert them into the 'To:/From:' header at the
top of my fax?
Fax Gray Line
Answer:
At the top of each fax there is a 'To:' and 'From:' built into the
Time/Date header.  The 'To:' and 'From:' areas each will hold up to
30 characters of text (including spaces).

When you import a new list, you are asked to name the fields (i.e.,
Fax Number, Contact Name, Company, etc.).  By default,
Faxfromtheweb will insert the information from the field marked,
'Contact Name' into the 'To:' area.

If both the 'Contact Name' and 'Company Name' fields are marked
when you import your list, information from the Company Name will
be inserted for records where the Contact Name field is empty.
